I didn’t start with a business idea. I started with a question.
For several years, I’ve maintained a daily neurofeedback and biofeedback practice — swLORETA training, HRV work, structured protocols — originally just to understand my own cognitive patterns better. Over time, a specific question kept surfacing: does the same self-regulation training used in clinical and athletic settings actually change how people make decisions under financial stress? Not “does it feel like it helps” — does it measurably hold up?
That question became QU-001, an IRB-reviewed, pre-registered pilot study combining EEG-based neurofeedback with a custom behavioral testing platform. It’s early-stage. The design is deliberately conservative — sham-controlled, pre-registered before data collection, built with people who’ve spent careers doing this rigorously rather than quickly.
I’m a Finance & Economics student, not a neuroscientist by training, which is part of why I’ve leaned on people who are: a faculty co-investigator with 20+ years of federal research oversight experience, a senior engineer who built the platform architecture, and ongoing input from clinical neurofeedback practitioners. My job has been to ask a sharp question and make sure the people answering it have what they need to do it right.
If the results hold up, they’ll say something useful about how financial professionals can train under pressure. If they don’t, that’s useful too. Either way, I’d rather be right than fast.
